THE USM AGING INITIATIVE
Engage- Connect - Promote
The USM Aging Initiative was formed in 2017 to connect faculty, staff, students and the broader community, who have research and scholarship interests in the field of aging. The USM Aging Initiative has three goals: to develop new and creative partnerships across disciplines; to increase experiential learning opportunities for USM students; and to raise the visibility of USM's aging-related scholarship, research and creative works. The Aging Initiative aims to achieve these goals by holding on-campus events to engage USM audiences throughout the academic year, as well as by building support within USM leadership and partnerships with community organizations.
The USM Aging Initiative hosted the USM Aging Symposium in Spring, 2018 to convene USM faculty, staff, students and community members around topics in aging.
USM AGING INITIATIVE STEERING COMMITTEE
The USM Aging Initiative Steering Committee represents several USM departments and includes faculty, professional staff, and students. We meet monthly on the third Tuesday of the month in our effort to develop opportunities to connect those interested in aging-related topics through on-campus events, community partnerships, and an online platform.
Participation on the Steering Committee is open to USM faculty, staff, and students. If you would like to participate in the monthly Steering Committee meetings, please contact us at for meeting details.
